Snow shoe & winter hiking

Would you like to spend a day without skiing, snowboarding & Co and be active in the middle of snowy nature? Explore more than 80 km of groomed winter hiking trails not far from Maria Alm. They run through the Hochkönig region over Dienten to Mühlbach. Tranquillity, crisp snow and incredible panoramic views of the breathtaking mountain world in the holiday region Maria Alm in Pinzgau will await you.

Cross-country skiing in high altitude

40 km cross-country ski trails run through the Hochkönig region in the Salzburger Land and will invite you to be active during a leisurely or enduring sports session. The cross-country ski trails can be used without registration and are snow-reliable thanks to the high altitude. You decide whether you prefer classic skiing or skating. You can also go night cross-country skiing in Maria Alm as a special extra.

Ski tours

Would you like to climb great heights off the pistes? Feel the cold, fresh mountain air with every breath you take as you slowly get closer to the summit. The region around the Hochkönig will offer enough possibilities for your adventure - panoramic views of Maria Alm’s mountain world included! Designated tracks and ski touring trails with tips will make the adventure easier for you.

A couple tobogganing

Not only for children but also adults, it is immense fun to hurtle down the toboggan run on two runners. Detours into the powder snow are explicitly allowed. There are several tobogganing runs around Maria Alm, from the short and rapid run to the almost endless slope:

  • Jufen tobogganing run (approx. 2.5 km)
  • Grünegg tobogganing run (approx. 1.2 km)
  • Kronreith tobogganing run
  • Biberg tobogganing run (6 km)
  • Bramberg tobogganing run (14 km, approx. 1 hour’s drive from the hotel)

Night tobogganing in Maria Alm

The nearest lighted tobogganing run can be found close to the hotel Lohningerhof. The natural toboggan run at the Jufen is 2.5 km long and well lighted. The LoHo insider tip: Let the tractor pick you up at the Jufenalm!
Do you not have a sledge or a toboggan? No problem! You can rent a toboggan at the Jufenalm (against a fee) for one or more runs - they even have a mechanic break.
