Hosts with passion

The roots of our hospitality go deep in the Lohninger family. This is something you can feel. What grandma and grandpa once built is preserved in its origin. Thus, the hotel Lohningerhof has always been a place of enriching encounters, genuine enjoyment and precious moments. At the same time, the hosts are moving with the times and breaking new, modern ground. Thus, tradition and love for our homeland are just as much a part of life here as zeitgeist and cosmopolitanism. What makes the hotel Lohningerhof so extraordinary? Its genuineness, its naturalness, its lived values. We lovingly like to call it the “LoHo feeling”.

Heart-felt hospitality has always been deeply rooted in the Lohninger family. Christine Schloss-Lohninger runs the hotel Lohningerhof with great passion in the third generation with the active support of her husband Markus and father Franz. By the way: With Marlene and Daniel, the fourth generation of hosts is already growing up in the family…

From the past to modern times

In the year of 1969, Antonia and Franz Lohninger senior laid the historic foundation stone for today’s feel-good hotel in Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer. The hotel Lohningerhof once opened at Christmas 1971 as a small guesthouse with a few rooms and was, therefore, one of the first hotels in Maria Alm at the foot of the Hochkönig. It didn’t take long until numerous regular guests returned to the host family from Pinzgau. They already valued the genuine, heart-felt and honest hospitality of the Lohningers back then.

And so it continued

A new generation

This is how the small guesthouse grew into a stately family hotel. Stagnancy has never been an option in the Lohninger house. Already the grandparents invested heavily in the renovation and extension of the hotel with more rooms and a larger restaurant in order to keep up with the times. This pioneering spirit was continued by Franz Lohninger when he took over the hotel Lohningerhof in 1992 and modernised it with a new lounge, a classy reception, a light-flooded hall with fireplace, a garden, a pampering oasis and 40 comfortable rooms. Today, Franz stands by his daughter Christine as a true Pinzgau host.

The new woman in charge has brought fresh ideas to the four-star hotel Lohningerhof: With the nonchalant Roof Top Lounge with a panoramic pool and a sauna with a view of the Steinernes Meer, a new building with 14 modern rooms and the extension of the stylish pampering oasis, Christine has prepared the hotel for the future.

The host family Lohninger can proudly look back on the history and development of the hotel. At the same time, the youngest generation of hosts comes up with new ideas to make sure that guests at the familially run hotel Lohningerhof can feel comfortable now and in the future.
